Finding excellence
Pho - a delicious Vietnamese food that is often eaten for breakfast. Even though the meal is meant to be served quickly, it's not easy to make one. You need the right ingredients, work, time, and ultimately - skill. The first time I made Pho, it tasted nothing like the food at all. It took me many times to get the meal just right.
Still, there is always someone who can make it better.
In my neighborhood, there's a small Pho restaurant. The owner usually wakes up at 3 a.m. She preps the ingredient and cooks the broth for 4 hours. By the time the sun comes up, she is ready to serve her customers. She has never missed a day in 50 years of running it. If I were to recommend a pho restaurant to you, I'd say the one in my neighborhood is the best.
Most of the time, the best products and services we see result from consistency. We see them every day, every week, every month, and every year. The value is so ingrained in us that it doesn't show up daily anymore.
Great athletes train every day. Great podcasts come out every week. Great businesses do deals every month. And Apple Inc. releases its iPhone every year.
If you find something to do consistently, you may find your excellence.
